Parent Participation is an integral part of the Hippo Nursery School Philosophy. Parents and other family members are encouraged to participate in a ‘duty day,’ volunteering as an extra assistant in their child’s classroom every other week. This allows educators and family members to become partners in their child’s early education.

Parents also take on a ‘parent job’ integral to the running of the school. These roles range from a position on the Hippo Nursery School Board of Directors, to taking home laundry once per month, filing children’s artwork in their cubbies, enriching the program with music, or joining a committee, including our Health, Safety and Maintenance, Fundraising and Groundskeeping committees.

Through this participation, our families become a close-knit community.
